How to say nothing with a large vocabulary.

Fallout.

As you may or may not be aware, I posted an objective critique of incestuous relationships yesterday. As you may or may not be aware, I was also involved in a debate with some people on Skynews as to this topic. I posted excerpts in my previous post, but in my absence (10 hour day. Sigh) it appears to have descended into farce. Here are some choice posts (emphasis mine, rebuttals below each individual copy; bold names for them, nothing for me):

1) The over-reaction police: "OMG. The old biddy must have money. lots and lots and lots of money!"

"She must have money." Well, thanks for that, Captain Obvious. At least the end of your quote doesn't make you any more moronic. Oh, it does? Sorry about that.

-----

2) Mssrs. Irony: "DIsgustiing! the boys mother must be rolling in her grave at this filthy incest! honestly, what is this world coming to? i feel sorry for the child to be born!

' i make no apologies and believe God's given me a second chance'

is she kidding? God does not approve incest, in fact its an abomination on these grounds!"

What is the world coming to when people think that's an appropriate reaction to this non-story? Hey, it's cool you brought in the mother. I fucked yours, by the way. It's irrelevant, but it makes me look like I'm disgusted because of something important. God hearts incest, and even if he didn't -- you're a moron. "You cannot do what you want because I'M religious." And religious types don't know why we laugh at them?

-----

3) The Waaaaaaaaahmbulance driver: "My one comment doesnt go up? I dont agree with what those people are doing but the few who do have repeatedly commented on here and just seem to have the right to argue constantly in the comments."

Couple of things:

i) A comment section is for commenting. It's kind of implied by... well. Yeah.
ii) Your comment was obviously so many kinds of stupid or bigoted to not have made it up. Based on the crap that did, you deserve applause.

-----

4) Chairman of the Verbose Police: "this is wrong on so many levels."

Care to list them for us mere mortals?

-----

5) "A punishment worse than death": "Why do they feel the need to bring a baby into their sick little world? They know what they are doing is wrong, but to bring someone into it is beyond wrong.."

IT'S BEYOND WRONG, I TELL YOU!!!!!! What is that, out of interest? You could go on Blackadder: "A fate worse than a fate worse than death? That's pretty bad." If you want me to be serious, however, just because you call it 'sick' doesn't make it so. Please read up on 'syllogism'. They love each other: they want a physical representation of that. One they will love. Fuckers.

-----

6) The over-reaction police #2: "OMG that is so SICK, she's old enough to be his Grandmother.......Oh hang on a minute she is.... WTF"

Ooooooh. I see what you did there. That were clever, that! I like how your sporadic capitalisation makes you look like one of those stalkers who cuts out letters in magazines and makes them into messages. Good job.

-----

7) Onomatopoeia is fun: "Eughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Afijsgdiofgjrth? I mean. That makes as much sense. Get off my planet.

-----

8) MMMMMMMMmmmmmoooooOTtttthhhhheeeeRRRR: "This lady should read The Betrayal of Youth a book co-written by Peter Tatchell. She has betrayed her deceased daughter and her grandson. Her grandson, no doubt mourning the loss of his Mother and full of grief, was desperate to find a link to his beloved Mother who had recently passed away. He must have said who better to help him get over the loss of his Mother than his maternal grandmother who he had never met so he went looking and tracked her down. She probably reminded him of his Mother in many ways and he has confused this with other emotions. This grandmother appears to have taken advantage of a broken heart, a young guy who is missing hisMother and someone who is clearly very confused."

"Mourning the loss of his Mother... who recently passed away."
Stop capitalising 'mother'; also, he's unlikely to be mourning the loss of his mother who hasn't died, isn't he? He's 26: that's your definition of young? Then she's probably not old, is she, by your logic. Go figure, moron.

-----

9) Inside voice: "SICK! SICK! SICK! SICK!!!!!!. HOW CAN A GRANDMOTHER EVEN THINK ABOUT HAVING THAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WITH HER OWN FLESH AND BLOOD, THIS IS GOING TOOO FAR AS MORALS ARE CONCERNED. SHOULD BE BANNED !!!!!!!"

I emphasised some of the grammatical mistakes with you, not to pretend your opinion is less valid because you misused grammar: some of our brightest can't be bothered. I did it because it's funny. I also like the implication that this is "going tooooooooo far as morals are concerned": need less 'o', also 'morals' isn't a person. I like the idea of Mr. Moral being up in arms about this case. Read a book or something, dumbass.

10) Self-defeating and stupid: The Impossible Dream Realised: "This is horrible and disturbing on so many levels.

There is a reason that people of that age are not supposed to have children ok. Its not nice, but that woman will be dead not long from now and the 26 year old will be left with the baby on his own.

Moral's - The way I see it that 26 year old guy was looking for stability and a family and ended up in the arms of a mentaly abusive grandmother.

Incest - This is for everyone who was saying incest is 'OK' Incest is a crime because it causes birth defects in children concived. I know this couple isnt doing that BUT it clearly goes against nature. gene selection and poisons the gene pool.

Disgusting and I hope social servies remove the child and give them both mental help."

True, she may be dead soon. So may you or I. Granted she has pushed the boat out, but her age is not a discriminatory factor here. Love how you're continuing the conceit of Cretin #9, by making 'morals' a possessive: honestly, it's not a person. "It's illegal because it causes gene mutations, I know these people aren't doing that but it's still wrong." I don't need to mock that sentence, because anything I could say would be less funny than that.

-----

11) Mrs. Fallacy: "I think a lot of people are missing the point. If this is what they want to do that is their choice. I personally think it is wrong but who am i to judge. My serious concern is for the child. Not only will this child have to suffer the taunts and bullying that it's Mother is also it's Great Grandmother but this women is 72. How can she care properly for this baby also this poor child will loose it's 'Mother' (so to speak) at a young age. How is this fair on the child? They are completely selfish and not thinking of anyone but themselves. Let them do what they like but surely someone should stop them from having this child???"

You're one of those people who start sentences with, "There's nothing wrong with it, except...", or "It's great, but...". You said it yourself: not your place to judge - so why have you then gone on to do so for 800 characters? Also, again, mother is a noun. Stop capitalising it for no Reason. Also, slippery slope fallacy: it's funny because it means nothing unless you're a literal determinist. Are you? I highly doubt it. I expect you say things like, "I literally just sat there"; as opposed to... figuratively sitting there? Nice inference that you know what the child is feeling. Impressive ability. Particularly enjoy your closing remarks: "Let them do what they want but surely someone should stop them from having this child???"... There are no words, surely, for this lunacy? It's the same as morons who say, "You can do whatever you like, as long as you don't do this." Makes no sense, imbecile.

-----

12) Are you for fake?: "What is so wrong with this????? Are you for real? Ok this guy is 26 and you could argue that he can make his own mind up although I think he is totally confused after the loss of his mother. But, and it is a big but, if we start down the road of "incest is not proven to cause harm" we allow all the paedophiles and the Fritzls of this world to abuse children and ruin lives. Incest and child abuse is wrong no matter what. End of."

You're not him, stop saying what he thinks. So if we decriminalise incest then we will get cases like Fritzl? You're suggesting two things which make no sense:

i) We can decriminalise incest, then go back in time, then let Fritzl do it again.
ii) That the law stopped Fritzl from doing anything.

There would be no example if what we had worked. Do you honestly not see that? I could say something like, "If we punished racists with death then the Holocaust would never happen"; it's still rubbish. Hey, let's criminalise being mentally deficient; that way this comment would never have existed. Go fuck yourself. Least that way you'll be safe. Douchebag. (Oh, and child abuse is not the same as incest. Go buy a dictionary. And a clock.)

13) Detective Inspector Retard, Obvious Division: "The relationship between the grandmother and grandson is wrong...BUT, if you read the story the baby is NOT being born in an incestuous way - the baby is from a donor egg, using the grandsons sperm.

The child will be the grandsons via donor egg, and the grandmother with be its stepmother.

The relationship setup is really very wrong, and one of them will come to their senses eventually, most likely the grandson. I think the grandson is doing it for money - she's got enough cash saved to pay for a donor egg, so what else does she have stashed."

Thanks for explaining that, P.I. Retard. You could be #1's even dumber sidekick. Dunno where we would have been without you. Probably crashing through a sea of stupidity or something. Oh. It's good that we've judged them so stupid as to say they will come to their senses. It'll be nice for the guy to be both a moron and a fraud. Good on him. If you're dumb, at least money is a consolation I suppose. You must be fucking loaded.

-----

14) Correct, but craven: "I think when long lost relatives meet, it is easy to confuse their connection and feelings with those of a sexual partner rather than a family member. The connection is inevitable.
I do agree that this is disgusting and wrong but just to prove a point - Fredsta - there IS incest in the Bible. Read again."

"I agree with you, but I like cheap point scoring." Awesome.
